Effect of the molecular weight on the physicochemical properties of poly(lactic acid) nanoparticles and on the amount of ovalbumin adsorption

Show more

“…The DSC curves showed two glass temperatures (Tg) for the particles, this behavior is typical for immiscible binary systems, indicating the contribution of each component in the mixture . The first glass temperature (Tg1) is below 0°C, similar to those obtained for the PILs, whereas the second (Tg2) is around 50°C.…”

“…With PUHA BMIM, particles with heterogeneous size distribution were obtained (Figure c). From the PUEA BMIM particles with the smaller size were obtained (Figure d), with an average diameter of 240 nm, probably due to the higher molecular weight of the PLI which favors the formation of small particles …”

“…At high molecular weight, higher hydrophobicity and smaller particle size were obtained due to longer aliphatic chains. 22,23 No differences in size were found due to the presence of terminal carboxyl groups in both cases. 22 Comparing results obtained for R502 and R752S (similar molecular weight), smaller diameters were obtained when R752S was used.…”

“…Mixed PLA/Pluronic ® Nps were prepared by a modified nanoprecipitation method . Two protocols for the Nps preparation were used: (i) addition of polymer solution (0.5% w/v PLA in acetone) into the non‐solvent [water/ethanol (47% v/v ethanol) and Pluronic ® ] (M1) and (ii) addition of the non‐solvent in to the polymer solution (M2) (Figure ).…”
