“…The welded joints are mainly composed of NZ, fusion zone (FZ), heat affected zone (HAZ), and BM. According to the different peak temperatures, the HAZ can be divided into four sub-zones, which are subcritical HAZ (SCHAZ), intercritical HAZ (ICHAZ), fine-grained HAZ (FGHAZ), and coarse-grained HAZ (CGHAZ), whose peak temperatures approximately are <A c1 , A c1 ~A c3 , >A c3 and >>A c3 , respectively [ 18 ]. Compared with the SMAW joint, the narrower width of the HAZ in the FSW joints was ascribed to the fact that FSW was solid-phase welding with low heat input.…”

“…Although higher fatigue strength was reported in the DP steel with increasing martensite content [ 29 , 30 , 31 ], lower fatigue strength of DP1000/1.3-DP1000/1.3 weldment than DP800/1.3-DP800/1.3 weldment was found in this work, which could be a result of different surface defects as oxide particles appearing on the weld surface. In addition, the weld concavity can initiate formation of fatigue cracks [ 32 , 33 ]. The lower fatigue strength of DP800/2.1-DP800/2.1 weldment compared with DP800/1.3-DP800/1.3 weldment can be related to the presence of the weld concavity.…”

“…Welding is the most preferred combining process in automotive industry. In general, there are several welding methods in the automotive industries, for example, ultrasonic spot welding, 9 friction stir spot welding (FSSW), 10 pinless FSSW, 11 laser spot welding, 12 and resistance spot welding (RSW). 13 RSW is the most preferred welding method for performing these combinations.…”
