Eco-city and green building are the global development strategies today. In order to improve the management level of green buildings in the urbanization process, a reciprocal symbiosis evaluation index model is proposed based on the theory of urban ecology. On this basis, the collaborative relationship model between Eco-city and green building is established, and the green building management framework based on the collaborative theory is constructed. The expert survey method was used to determine the evaluation indicators and analyze the relationship between various city subsystems. Then, the analytic hierarchy process is used to build a three-level evaluation index system, including the target layer, the criterion layer, and the index layer. The weight of the evaluation index system is calculated by combining of the chromatography method and the entropy weight method, and a scientific evaluation index system is established. The gray comprehensive evaluation method is used to evaluate the construction of the green building management system. Based on the index system, the analytic hierarchy process is used to calculate different weight coefficients, which makes the evaluation model easy to use and lays a foundation for subsequent research.

High solar gain in hot and arid climates, causes overheating in summer and increases the demand for air-conditioning, energy and carbon footprints of buildings. There are different strategies, tools, and solutions to address this problem, but Integrated Façade Systems (IFS) -façade systems where different technological solutions are integrated to improve performance and to lower the impact of the building -are still an under-developed yet a fast-growing field of research. Such systems can reduce solar heat gain, lower air conditioning costs and lessen glare, while maximising the use of natural light and help produce energy if combined with PV technology. Previous research has addressed one or a combination of some of the influential factors on performance of such systems, yet there still is a gap in the state-of-the-art research in comprehensive systematic approach not only to help gauge the impact of alteration of parameters on the IFS performance, but also an approach which can be deployed in other studies where the focus is on façade systems. With a special reference to office buildings in hot and arid climates, this paper sets out to systematically identify IFS parameters which have potential impacts on energy, lighting, glare and heat gain. Then as a part of a comprehensive ongoing research in this area, this paper presents a proof-of-concept to demonstrate the application of such methodology to a parametric study of IFS technology. In doing so, it chooses only one of the parameters indicated in this systematic review and uses building simulation as its core method to investigate the influence and impacts of those variations on performance of IFS. It will indicate how this approach provides high flexibility to adjust or configure any combination of those parameters and to measure, subjectively, how this will result in change in façade performance.

Summary Shading is one of the cases that has effectivity on the household energy consumption. Shadings can be used either in horizontal or vertical form adjacent to the building’s window in order to control the sunlight. In this paper, a multi‐objective optimization is conducted to simultaneously reduce the annual electricity consumption and augment the electricity production with the application of photovoltaic shadings installed over the building window. To initiate the multi‐objective optimization, four design variables based on the positioning and geometry of photovoltaic shading are selected and test samples are simulated through EnergyPlus software. The model is three‐floor building located in Tehran, Iran. Next, the Morris sensitivity analysis (MSA) is implemented to calculate the extent to which each design variable affects the objective functions. Afterwards, the relation between the design variables and objective functions is extracted through the regression modeling using GMDH type‐ANN and the equations extracted are then utilized as inputs for genetic algorithm to conduct a Pareto‐based optimization. The results demonstrate that the maximum sunlight reception is attributed to the PV shading in southern direction of the building and its optimal tilt angle is 19.6 considering an annual period. There are slight changes to the tilt angle while seasonal period is considered for the calculations. The results also show that the use of solar shadings can reduce electricity consumption by approximately 4 to 11, 1 to 4, and 10 to 22% for an annual period, winter and summer season, respectively. At the end, the numerical data for the city of Tehran is compared to the cities of Canberra and Macapa.
