Effect of the combined isotonic technique for proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation and taping on pain and grip strength in patients with lateral epicondylitis: a randomized clinical trial

Abstract: The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of the combined isotonic technique (CIT) for proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation and taping intervention on pain and grip strength in patients with lateral epicondylitis (LE). Twenty subjects with LE were treated 5 times a week for 4 weeks. Patients were randomized to an experimental group (n=10) with taping after CIT and a control group (n=10) with taping after stretching. A visual analogue scale (VAS) was used to measure changes in pain. A hand dy… Show more

“…Foram coletadas informações sobre sexo, dominância de membro, idade e índice de massa corporal (IMC). Em O tempo de aplicação da combinação de isotônica consistiu em uma única aplicação por 10 segundos, com 10 repetições, alternando os membros para cada aplicação, pois desta forma garantiu um tempo de repouso 11 .…”

“…In this context, PNF emerges as a treatment concept which recommends performing exercises within a context of functionality that has been applied in several types of musculoskeletal disorders, with efficacy and safety, and in ICF (Adler et al, 2014;Guiu-Tula et al, 2017;Kim et al, 2019).…”

“…In this context, the Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation (PNF) concept emerges as a therapeutic option for patients with TBPI, once its approach is based on neurophysiological principles of motor learning and control, emphasizing functional movement (Adler, Beckers, & Buck, 2014). The PNF‐concept has evolved over the last few decades into a complete rehabilitation approach that has been applied in populations presenting with different types of neurological and musculoskeletal disorders, with safety and efficacy, besides being in consonance with the ICF (Adler et al, 2014; Guiu‐Tula, Cabanas‐Valdés, Sitjà‐Rabert, Urrútia, & Gómara‐Toldrà, 2017; Kim, Yi, & Yim, 2019; Smedes, Heidmann; Schäfer, Fischer, & Stępień, 2016; Smedes & Silva, 2018; Tedla & Sangadala, 2019).…”
