“…Compared with 2.5%MBS‐1%SSPS solution (283.1 mPa·s), the markable enhancement in the apparent viscosity were observed in the solutions of 3.5%MBS‐1%SSPS (6,553 mPa s) and 4.5%MBS‐1%SSPS (9,864.45 mPa s). The apparent viscosity of pure MBS‐SSPS solution was mainly determined by the free volume and the entanglement between macromolecules (starch and soybean polysaccharides; Lian, Shi, Zhang, & Peng, 2020). When nano‐emulsified CCO was incorporated into MBS‐SSPS coating solution, the higher the concentration of CCO, the lower the viscosity of final coating solution.…”

“…In previous work, the increase of KGM content could increase the tensile strength (TS) of the blend film [11]. Starch is a non-toxic natural polysaccharide, usually used to construct packaging film [12,13]. The blend of cassava starch with chitosan has successfully improved the water vapor permeability of films [14].…”

“…A literature survey has revealed that the physical and biological properties of chitosan‐based composite films can be enhanced by incorporating natural ingredients such as polysaccharides, polyphenols, and essential oils (Akyuz et al., 2018; Garcia et al., 2006; Liu et al., 2016; Yadav et al., 2020). Of these, polysaccharides are easier to combine with chitosan and form a homogeneous structure (Lian et al., 2020). Examples include adding starch to form a homogeneous and compact structure of chitosan composite film (Garcia et al., 2006), adding xanthan gum (microbial polysaccharide) to enhance the tensile strength of chitosan film (de Morais Lima et al., 2017), and adding gum Arabic to form a network‐spherical cross‐linked structure conducive to regulating the retention and release of antibacterial essential oils of chitosan composite film (Xu et al., 2018).…”
