“…Possibly, C16 alkyls might have been branched and their reduction might further restrict diffusion. In the polar part of lipids, respectively, the relative share of each phosphatidylcholine (FC), phosphatidylethanolamine (FE), or phosphatidylglycerol (FG) did not show a clear trend with increasing temperature varying from 0.21 to 0.55, which is consistent with the results of Kouba et al (2022c), Kouba et al (2022b) and Kouba et al (2022d), as each of these studies found a different polar head group dominating at lower temperatures. Similarly, the ester-to-ether ratio fluctuated from 0.05 to 0.16 without a link to temperature, again correspondingly to the divergencies in previous literature (Kouba et al, 2022c;Rattray et al, 2010).…”

“…The samples for ladderane analysis were sampled at the end of each Run after at least 5 days of operation of R1 at 40 °C and simultaneously from R0 (30 °C) with a dried weight of 0.3 g. The sample preparation and analysis were done according to Kouba et al (2022b) by lyophilizing the samples and subsequently shaking them in an extraction solvent mixture (MeOH: DCM, 2:1, v/v). Afterwards, the samples were sonicated, centrifuged (5 min, 10,000 rpm, 5 °C) and filtered through a 90 μm filter paper, grade 390 (Ahlstrom, Munksjö).…”

“…Scalindua" under low temperatures raises inquiry into their membrane physiology. As described in more detail in Kouba et al [49], the [3]-ladderanes (Ea15-30 = 51 kJ. mol − 1 , C20/(C18 + C20) [3]-ladderane ether = 0.11; Fig.…”

“…With further research, metabolomics has been widely introduced into the study of disease mechanisms, biomarkers, tissue development regulation, and other related molecular mechanisms ( Chevrette et al, 2019 ; Modoux et al, 2020 ; Chen et al, 2022 ). Metabolomics is a comprehensive analysis of metabolites in specific biological systems using high throughput mass spectrometry and nuclear magnetic resonance, among which UPLC-HRMS is the most promising metabolomics analysis tool internationally recognized to date due to its high accuracy and resolution and the simultaneous analysis of multiple indicators ( Kouba et al, 2022 ; Pan et al, 2022 ). Untargeted metabolomics combined with biological epigenetic observation is used to detect the dynamic changes of many metabolites before and after stimulation or disturbance, to find metabolites with different expressions, and then clarify the metabolic processes of organisms ( Snyder et al, 2013 ; Bode and Challinor, 2015 ; Kim et al, 2017 ).…”
