Effect of spatial coherence of light on the photoregulation processes in cells

Abstract: The effect of the statistical properties of light on the value of the photoinduced reaction of the biological objects, which differ in the morphological and physiological characteristics, the optical properties, and the size of cells, was studied. The fruit of apple trees, the pollen of cherries, the microcuttings of blackberries in vitro, and the spores and the mycelium of fungi were irradiated by quasimonochromatic light fluxes with identical energy parameters but different values of coherence length and rad… Show more

“…In order to explain the obtained results, it is necessary to compare the cell sizes of microorganisms with the characteristic coherence parameters of the used light beams. It was previously established that the stimulation effect is most pronounced when the cell is placed completely in the volume of field coherence, that is, D < Lcoh, rcor, where D is the cell size [8]. In the case of P. syringae (small cells), this condition was satisfied for both sources of quasi-monochromatic irradiation, and the functional activity of bacteria increased.…”

“…However, these processes turned out to be dependent on the statistical ordering (coherence) of the exciting light. The greatest stimulating effect occurred when the cells were completely placed in the volume of coherence of the field of a quasi-monochromatic wave [8]. This can explain the change in equilibrium in the model biocenosis with small bacterial cells and larger fungal cells when exposed to light with different coherence.…”

“…A significant warming of the climate, as well as the emergence of new varieties, in recent years, as a result of expeditionary surveys of vine plantations and our own observations, have identified new adaptive to local conditions (CBA) large-fruited and large bunch varieties [1] with valuable economic and biological properties [2], resistance of these varieties to biotic and abiotic factors [3][4], to study and recommend the most effective methods of shelter in the cold season [5,9], as well as the conditions for the preservation of shanks in the autumn-winter period [6,14,15].…”

“…The difficult conditions that have developed recently, in which the Russian Federation finds itself as a result of unfriendly behavior on the part of a number of countries, forced it to give an adequate answer. The logical response from Russia is the import substitution policy [1]. At present, Russia is actively developing and increasing the production of such products for food security.…”
