Region (laying out in the part of the south valley of Egypt, about 1300 and 280km. south from Cairo and Aswan, respectively) during 2018-19 and 2019-20 seasons to study the effect of preceding crop (PC 1 : fallow, PC 2 : soybean and PC 3 : sunflower), sowing methods (SM 1 : drilling and SM 2 : broadcasting) and nano-fertilizer (NF 1 : 0.0 Nano (control), NF 2 : 125, NF 3 : 250 and NF 4 : 500mL fed -1 ) on the growth, yield and its quality of bread wheat cv. Giza 171 in sandy-loam soil. The experiment was carried out in (RCBD) using strip-split plot design with three replications. Results showed that plant height, number of spike plant -1 , number of leaves plant -1 , flag leaf area, spike length, number of grains spike -1 , 1000-grain weight, grain yield, protein content, hectoliter weight, wet and dry gluten traits were significantly affected by preceding crops, sowing methods and nano-fertilizer in both seasons. Wheat preceded by soybean shows an increase in all studied wheat traits than those preceded by sunflower crop and fallow. The drilling method showed remarkably superior performance for all studied traits, except the plant height and hectoliter weight which was recorded the highest mean values with the broadcasting method. Increasing nano-fertilizer concentration from 125 to 500mL fed -1 resulted in an increased significance in all previous traits, except for hectoliter weight trait which was decreased by increasing nano-fertilizer concentration in both seasons. Also, all interactions involved in this respect had significant influences on the majority of the traits, and the highest mean value of grain yield was (3.480 and 3.553 ton fed -1 ) in the 1 st and 2 nd seasons, respectively which were resulted from planting wheat after soybean (PC 2 ) with drilling method (SM 1 ) and spraying with 500 ml fed -1 nano-fertilizer (NF 4 ) at three times.

In Himachal Pradesh, farmers typically possess small land holdings where machinery isn't practical for various sowing techniques, limiting them to broadcasting. Regarding nitrogen, it facilitates more vegetative growth by enhancing the photosynthetic rate. The higher the nitrogen content, the greater the vegetative growth potential. Therefore, present investigation titled “Effect of Sowing Methods and Nitrogen Levels on Growth, Yield and Economics of Oats (Avena sativa L.) under Mid-hills of Himachal Pradesh, India” was conducted during rabi season of 2022-23 at Chamelti Agriculture Farm, MS Swaminathan School of Agriculture, Shoolini University of Biotechnology and Management Sciences, Solan, Himachal Pradesh. The field experiment was laid out in Split Plot Design comprising twelve treatments with three replications. The experiment consists of three sowing methods in main plot i.e., (S1) Broadcasting, (S2) Line sowing and (S3) Crisscross and four levels of nitrogen N0 (0 kg ha-1), N1 (75 kg ha-1), N2 (100 kg ha-1) and N3 (125 kg ha-1) as sub plot. OL 12 variety of oats was used for sowing. Sowing methods and nitrogen levels were done as per treatment. Other crop management practices were followed as per the recommendation of the area. Results indicated that among the sowing methods, (S3) crisscross, recorded significantly higher growth and yield, over line sowing and broadcasting which was on par with (S2) line sowing over the rest of the treatments except for grain, straw and biological yield. In case of nitrogen levels, (N3) application of 125 kg N ha-1 recorded significantly higher growth and yield of oats, over rest of the nitrogen levels and was on par with 100 kg N ha-1. Economically, (S3) crisscross sowing with application of (N3) 125 kg N ha-1 resulted in higher gross returns, net returns and B: C ratio under Mid Hills of Himachal Pradesh.

Effect of Different Leonardite Doses and Cross-Sowing Methods on the Growth and Yield of Red Lentil

This study was carried out to determine the effect of different cross-sowing methods and different doses of leonardite on the growth of red lentils under rain-fed conditions. Treatments consisted of different cross-sowing methods (control, 45° cross-sowing and 90° cross-sowing) and different leonardite doses (0, 500, 1000, 1500, 2000 and 2500 kg ha−1). The trial was carried out in Diyarbakır province in Türkiye. The same rate of leonardite was applied to the same plots for two consecutive years to observe the two-year effect of leonardite in the experiment, which was established with four replications according to the factorial experimental design in the 2018-2019 and 2019-2020 production seasons. A positive effect of leonardite application was observed on the number of nodules and fresh root weight in the first production season. The highest nodule number (11.84) was obtained with 2500 kg ha−1 and the highest fresh root weight (0.24, 0.25 and 0.24 g) was obtained at 500, 1000 and 1500 kg ha−1 doses, respectively. The highest plant height, number of main branches, and number of pod parameters were obtained at a dose of 1500 kg ha−1 in the second production season (36.63 cm, 3.95 and 17.43, respectively). The highest grain yield (889.5 kg ha−1), dry root weight (0.125 g) and number of nodules (50.01) were obtained at a dose of 1000 kg ha−1 in the second production season. It was determined that different sowing methods did not affect grain yield in either production season.
