Effect of Some Experimental Factors on Preparation of Liquid Natural Rubber

Abstract: The article presents results of effect of factors comprising the types of irradiation, the concentration of NR solution and the content of hydroperoxide in mixture on photochemical depolymerization of natural rubber. The results showed that the ultraviolet irradiation from the vapor mercury lamps (HSW-250W and HSW-125W) caused the faster rate of depolymerization than the light from  HF-500W; increasing concentration of NR in toluene leaded to decrease the rate of depolymerization; and as the content of hydrope… Show more

“…By the photochemical method, the major chain of LNR was polyisoprene containing hydroxyl groups at termination and a little epoxy. 1,2 The LNR was applied for composite solid propellants [3][4][5][6] and polymer-bonded explosives as a binder of powder fillers (10-15%). 7 As an important advantage, the addition of the nitro groups (─NO 2 ) to chains of a polymer gives an energetic polymer.…”

“…Liquid natural rubber (LNR), which is a liquid unsaturated polymer, is made from natural rubber by several methods such as redox, photochemical, and oxidation routine. By the photochemical method, the major chain of LNR was polyisoprene containing hydroxyl groups at termination and a little epoxy 1,2 . The LNR was applied for composite solid propellants 3–6 and polymer‐bonded explosives as a binder of powder fillers (10–15%) 7 .…”
