Effect of Sleep Deprivation on Reminiscence and Apprehension Behavior in Wistar Albino Rats

Abstract: Objective: The aim of the present study is to investigate the effect of paradoxical sleep deprivation (SD) on learning and memory impairment and anxiety-like behavior in female Wistar albino rats. Methods: Eight-arm radial maze, open-field test, and light and dark test were used to assess the animals learning and memory and anxiety-like behavior. Results: SD associated with weaker learning and memory and increased anxiety- and depressive-like behavior in animals. Conclusion: Animals were expo… Show more

“…Open field task is used to measure the exploratory and anxiety related behavior [18] in both adolescent (PND43) and adult (PND 65) rats. The apparatus size was altered according to the age of rat (80cmx80cm) [19], (100x100 cm) for adolescents and adult rats respectively.…”

“…Studies have shown that increasing the surfactant or emulsifier concentration decreases the droplet size of NEs; however, this might impart toxicity and cause irritation in the gastrointestinal tract (GI). So, finding the right combination and ratios of oil and surfactant is important to form a stable and smaller droplet‐size NE (Priya et al, 2015). Studies have favored the use of NE as compared to microemulsion because of the minimal use of surfactants assuring their safety profiles (Pavoni et al, 2020).…”
