BACKGROUND A significant relationship between gastric cancer (GC) and depression has been found in the last 20 years. However, there is no comprehensive information that helps researchers find popular and potential research directions on GC and depression. AIM To determine the research status and hotspots by bibliometric analysis of relevant publications on the relationship between GC and depression. METHODS We used the Web of Science Core Collection to search and collate the literature on GC and depression from 2000 to 2022 on 31 May, 2023. Then, visualization analysis was performed using VOSviewer software (version 1.6.19) and the Bibliometrix package in R software. RESULTS We retrieved 153 pertinent publications from 2000 to 2022. The annual publication count showed an overall upward trend. China had the most prominent publications and significant contributions to this field (n = 64, 41.83%). Before 2020, most studies focused on “the effect of GC on the development and progression of depression in patients.” The latest research trends indicate that “the effect of depression on the occurrence and development of GC and its mechanism” will receive more attention in the future. CONCLUSION The study of “the effect of depression on the occurrence and development of GC and its mechanism” has emerged as a novel research theme over the past two years, which may become a research hotspot in this field. This study provides new insights into the hotpots and frontiers of the relationship between GC and depression, potentially guiding researchers toward hot research topics in the future.

Effect of Comprehensive Nursing on Pain Relief, Comfort and Burden of Family Care of Infantile Anal Fistula

To explore the effect of comprehensive nursing on pain relief, comfort and burden of family care of infantile anal fistula. Methods: This was a randomized, double-blind, controlled clinical trial. A total of 106 cases of children with anal fistula from January 2021 to December 2021 were selected and divided into observation group and control group, there were 53 cases in each group. The control group were underwent with routine nursing intervention. The observation group were underwent with video health education, peer support, music relaxation training, physiotherapy and auricular point pressing on the basis of routine nursing therapy and other measures (comprehensive nursing). The wound healing time, comfort score, complication rate and family care burden of two groups were compared. Results: After intervention, the scores of pain degree in the observation group were significantly lower than those in the control group (4.02 ± 0.85 vs 5.89 ± 2.36, p < 0.05), and the scores of comfort degree in the observation group were higher than those in the control group (70.23 ± 5.98 vs 46.88 ± 5.23, p < 0.05). After intervention, the wound healing time of the observation group was shorter than that of the control group (3.98 ± 0.63 vs 5.77 ± 1.02, p < 0.05), and the crying times of the observation group were less than that of the control group (1.22 ± 0.26 vs 4.02 ± 0.48, p < 0.05). After intervention, the total scores of family members' care load in the observation group were significantly lower than those in the control group (37.26 ± 4.78 vs 55.99 ± 5.02, p < 0.05). Conclusion:Comprehensive nursing can effectively promote wound healing in infantile anal fistula, reduce pain, prompt children's comfort, reduce the number of children crying, and reduce the burden of care for children's families.

The Mediating Effect of Resilience on the Relationship Between Symptom Burden and Anxiety/Depression Among Chinese Patients with Primary Liver Cancer After Liver Resection

Primary liver cancer (PLC) is a common cancer of the digestive system. Patients with PLC often experience a heavy symptom burden and along with a significant levels of anxiety and depression after liver resection. High levels of symptom burden can lead to increased anxiety and depression, whereas high levels of resilience can alleviate these conditions. Therefore, we aimed to explore the relationships among symptom burden, resilience, and anxiety/depression in Chinese patients with PLC after liver resection and to determine whether resilience mediates the relationship between symptom burden and anxiety/depression. Patients and Methods: A total of 223 postoperative PLC patients were recruited from two public hospitals in Anhui Province, China. All participants completed the MD Anderson Symptom Inventory (MDASI), Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale (HADS), and Connor-Davidson Resilience Scale (CD-RISC). The mediating effect of resilience was estimated using the bootstrap method via IBM SPSS AMOS 26.0. Results: The mean HADS score was 12.37 ± 6.03 points in postoperative PLC patients. Among these patients, 78 (34.98%) had anxiety, and 64 (28.70%) had depression, as indicated by a subscale score ≥ 8. Pearson correlation analysis revealed that anxiety/ depression was positively associated with symptom burden (p < 0.05) and negatively associated with resilience (p < 0.05). Furthermore, resilience partially mediated the relationship between symptom burden and anxiety/depression (β = 0.04; 95% confidence interval: 0.01-0.08). Conclusion:The levels of anxiety and depression in postoperative PLC patients should be decreased. Resilience partially mediated the relationship between symptom burden and anxiety/depression, but the indirect effect was much weaker than the direct effect of symptom burden on anxiety/depression. Consequently, rather than focusing primarily on resilience interventions, joint symptompsychological interventions focusing on symptoms should be considered for patients with PLC after hepatectomy to reduce the levels of anxiety/depression.
