Effect of Selected Parameters of Pressure Die Casting on Quality of AlSi9Cu3 Castings

Abstract: This paper presents the results on the effects of die-casting process on the strength parameters of castings of the aluminium AlSi9Cu3 alloy belonging to the group of EN AB-46000, made on renovated high pressure die-casting machine. Specimens for quality testing were taken from the places of the casting most loaded during the service. The aim of a research was to prove how the new die-casting process control capabilities influence on the tensile strength of the cast material defined as a value of the breaking … Show more

“…Intermetallic phases, because of their size, are easily to observe in all lower casts of each seven series. Particular visible is iron-rich phase which presence with eutectic precipitation has negative effect on the mechanical properties, especially strength and hardness [11,12], of the cast material.…”

“…EN AB 46000 is an aluminum alloy AlSi9Cu3 (Fe). It is a universal alloy with very good castability, particularly suitable for pressure die casting [11]. It is for wide range of applications, also for complicated and thin-wall castings, especially suitable for highly stressed pressure die castings.…”

“…The methodology of surface roughness measurements has been described in the literature [2,20]. Moulds for the assessment of external casting surface quality were made from the moulding sands based on the reclaims with Resin 1.…”
