Effect of Saffron on Histomorphometric Changes of Testicular Tissue in Rat

T.

Abstract: Problem statement: Saffron is widely used as a food flavor and has well known medicinal effects. This drug has an effect on steroid and sexual hormones. The aim of this study was investigation of Saffron orally administration on histomorphometric change of testicular tissue in rat. In this experimental study, 40 male rats are used (4 groups and 10 rats in each group). Approach: Animals were received Saffron (50, 100 and 200 mg kg −1 ) daily orally administration, during 28 days. As one group was control (norma… Show more

“…(a) Significant values versus group control, (b) Significant values versus AZP group cytoplasmic vacuolations was further reported by Karawya and ElNahas [62]. The current study noticed a decrease in the diameters of the seminiferous tubules which was proved by the morphometrical studies and agrees with the results of Shrestha et al and Khayatnouri et al [63,64]. Many cells appeared shrieked with pyknotic nuclei and deeply acidophilic cytoplasm, which may indicate apoptosis.…”

“…For microscopic examination, two types of slides with H&E and Masson's trichrome staining were prepared from testicular tissue samples. The tissue of the testis and epididymis was examined for any edema, hyperemia, and disruption of cellular order in a toxic tube, and the epididymis for fibrosis and loose connective tissue, and for the presence of sperm inside the tube [16].…”
