Effect of pyridazine content and crosslinker structure on the properties of polyurethane elastomers

Abstract: This article studies the development of a series of heterocyclic polyurethanes (PUs) with various pyridazine content and different crosslinker structure in their main chains. All of the isocyanate-terminated PU prepolymers were prepared from poly(tetramethylene oxide) glycol of molecular weight 1400 (Terathane 1400) and 1,6-hexamethylene diisocyanate. The properties of the obtained linear and crosslinked pyridazine-based PU were compared with the properties of common PUs obtained by chain extension with 1,4-bu… Show more

“…This can be explained by the fact that the increase in DAP content decreases the number of urethane NH‐hydrogen bonds and increases the hydrogen bonding of the urea and heteroatom of the purine ring. This behavior is similar to that of other heterocyclic polyurethanes …”

“…This shows better thermal stability than conventional polyurethanes chain‐extended with 1,4‐butanediol (Fig. a), but weaker than that generated by using other heterocyclic chain extender (pyridazine) . The main weight loss (10‐85%) started at about 340 °C and was complete around 570 °C.…”

“…Polyurethanes with heterocyclic structures exhibit improved both thermal and mechanical properties that are useful in many practical applications. The following heterocyclic derivatives have been used in the synthesis of polyurethanes: sulfadiazine [27], pyridine [28][29][30], triazine [31,32], quinoline [33], pyrol [34], pyridazine [35], isosorbide [36][37][38][39].…”
