“…Visual improvement was observed in 10 eyes, whereas the visual acuity remained stable in the remaining 27 eyes. These findings are in accordance with the findings of other investigators [13][14][15][16][17]. In eyes with advanced pterygia, when the lesion has reached the paracentral corneal area, there are changes in the corneal stroma and Bowman's layer, which are suggested to be responsible for incomplete restoration of corneal curvature and persistent refractive changes in eyes after pterygium removal [12].…”

“…Pterygium excision is indicated in cases where it is progressive, if visual axis is threatened, prior to other surgeries like LASIK, due to cosmetic purposes. Early intervention can reduce corneal distortion (9,10) . Definitive treatment of pterygium is surgical removal with conjunctival or amniotic membrane transplantation with glue or suture application.…”

“…In addition, previous studies assessing corneal topography evaluated with limited number of subjects. [8][9][10][11][12] In-depth analysis of the size effect would require sufficient number of subjects. The purpose of this retrospective study is to evaluate time-course changes in corneal topography after primary pterygium excision and the effect of pterygium size in postoperative restoration of corneal topography.…”
