Effect of Process Parameters on Machining Time in PMEDM Cylindrical Shaped Parts with Silicon Carbide Powder Suspended Dielectric

Abstract: This paper presents a work on the effect of Powder Mixed Electric Discharge Machining (PMEDM) parameters on the machining time when machining cylindrical shaped parts made from 90CrSi alloy steel. Five parameters including pulse on time Ton, powder concentration Cp, pulse off time Toff, pulse current IP and server voltage SV are explored their contribution on machining time by using the Taguchi method in eighteen experiments based on an orthogonal array L18 (21 and 34). Based on ANOVA analysis, an optimum mode… Show more

“…The increase in the R a was attributed to the two facts (i) Owing to the high thermal conductivity of SiC more heat was generated inside the spark gap. 30 The generated heat was not distributed evenly over the surface results in formation of uneven machined surface. (ii) Because of the high density of SiC particles (4.36 g cm −3 ), the suspended particles sedimented over the machined surface which reduces the surface quality.…”

“…According to the above analysis, perceived usefulness and perceived ease of use are affected by individual differences, system characteristics, social influence, and convenience (Alzubi et al, 2018 ; Ikram et al, 2018 ; Latifah et al, 2021 ), in which personality or demographic characteristics are individual differences, and they have a certain impact on the level of perceived usefulness and perceived ease of use (Amiruddin et al, 2021 ; Hong et al, 2021 ; Larue and Watling, 2021 ). Social impact refers to the degree of perception of an individual on the system under the guidance of social processes and mechanisms.…”

“…e optimum duty factor and thermography determine the productivity and quality of titanium alloy [17]. e MRR increased with the increment in the conductivity of the dielectric fluid and over the threshold limit reduces due to upsurge in gap distance [18]. Microcracks were decreased, and the permeability of machined surfaces was improved by suspending a significant quantity of powder at the right proportion [19].…”
