Effect of Pressure on Magneto-Transport Properties in the Superconducting and Normal Phases of the Metallic Double Chain Compound Pr2Ba4Cu7O15−δ

Abstract: To examine the electronic phase diagram of superconducting CuO double chains, we report the effect of external pressure on the magneto-transport properties in superconducting and nonsuperconducting polycrystalline samples of Pr2Ba4Cu7O 15−δ at low temperatures (1.8-40 K) under various magnetic fields (up to 14 T). In the as-sintered non-superconducting sample, the magnetoresistance (MR) follows a power law of H 3/2 at low temperatures, which is in no agreement with the H 2 dependence of MR in the PrBa2Cu4O8 sy… Show more

“…The multiple CuO chains in the YBCO-125 and YBCO-126 phases offer new opportunities for investigating the rich physics of the CuO chains in Y-Ba-Cu-O. First, a comparative study of these multi-chain phases will shed further light on the proximity-induced pairing in the CuO chains [37], and also help to clarify whether the quasi-1D ribbons formed by these chains can sustain pairing on their own [38][39][40]. Second, the multiple CuO chains may be used to tune the coupling strength between the CuO 2 planes [41], which is known to affect the T c in cuprates [42][43][44][45][46].…”
