Effect of presowing magnetic treatment on properties of pea

Abstract: A b s t r a c t. The pea seeds were exposed to full-wave rectified sinusoidal magnetic fields. The effects of electromagnetic treatment on seedling growth and chlorophyll contents and have been investigated. Seed were sown after magnetic field treatment according to ISTA under controlled laboratory conditions. The magnetic filed treatment of seeds increased the growth significantly (P<0.05), while the increment in contents of chlorophyll have been found non significant (P<0.05). The shoot length, root length, … Show more

“…The role of rice in the future will be more positive and conspicuous only if its quality and quantity is improved. Various techniques are in practice today to increase the yield of crops in response to increased consumption by using presowing seed or postemergence treatment (Perveen et al 2011;Haq et al 2012;Iqbal et al 2012;Jamil et al 2012;Naz et al 2012;Shahzad et al 2012;Shehzad et al 2012aShehzad et al , 2012b). The quality of kernels can further be improved to attract the consumer and meet the international as well as the national requirements for good quality rice (Bhattacharyya and Singh 1992).…”

“…It is a good source of vitamins A, B, and C and has a high proportion of minerals. In Pakistan, an estimated average cultivated area of this crop is 135600 ha with an average yield of 6.7 t ha -1 (Amjad and Anjum, 2002;Iqbal et al, 2012;Nisar et al, 2008). Agricultural scientists are trying to enhance the agricultural productivity and the main strategies include expansion of agricultural land, increasing the cropped land, and use of pre-sowing and post-emergence treatments.…”

“…Currently, evaluation of the influence of magnetic treatments are being strongly debated by the scientific community in literature (Florez et al, 2012;Almaghrabi et al, 2012;Afzal et al, 2012;Ijaz 2012;Iqbal et al, 2012;Jamil et al, 2012;Matwiejczuk et al, 2012;Socorro et al, 2012;Pietruszewski et al, 2010;Nimmi et al, 2009). Investigation of the effect of magnetic treatment of water and wheat seed in combination with HUMIN PLUS was carried out by Arkhipov et al (2012).…”
