Effect of Preparation Conditions on the Property Cu/AC Adsorbents for Phosphine Adsorption

Abstract: Copper-based activated carbon adsorbents (Cu/AC) were prepared and used to investigate the effects of various copper precursors, impregnation solution concentration, and calcination temperature on phosphine (PH 3 ) adsorption removal from yellow phosphorus tail gas. N 2 adsorption isotherm and X-ray Diffraction (XRD) were used for characterizing the Cu/AC adsorbents. It can be seen that the Cu(N)/AC adsorbent prepared from the Cu(NO 3 ) 2 precursor has higher PH 3 breakthrough adsorption capacity than other th… Show more

“…The result shows that the MWSAC adsorbent owns the biggest PH 3 breakthrough adsorption capacity and is one of the candidates for PH 3 adsorption removal from yellow phosphorus tail gas. Table 5 (2,4,7,19,22,24,(35)(36)(37) shows that some of the promising experimental performances were obtained with different composite adsorbents. In order to improve PH 3 adsorption capacity, most of the adsorbents are modified by copper (Cu).…”

“…According to the previous study (21,22), PH 3 adsorption capacity of fresh ACs is rather low. To enhance the PH 3 adsorption capacity, modification of AC using copper oxides has been reported (2,19,(22)(23)(24).…”

“…The raw materials frequently used for adsorbent support are active carbon and molecular sieve because of their special characteristics with high specific surface areas and pore volumes, which are beneficial for both physical and chemical adsorption. Ning and co-workers used active carbon and zeolites as supports for removal of phosphine in yellow phosphorus tail gas. Li et al also did some research about the adsorptive behaviors of phosphine on Y zeolite and ZSM-5 recently.…”

“…When 1t of yellow phosphorus is produced, the off-gas emission is about 3500 Nm 3 , causing serious pollution of the surrounding atmospheric environment. Phosphorus exhaust contains large amount of phosphorus, sulfur, fluorine, arsenic and other impurities [1][2][3][4][5][6][7][8] . Among them, HF and SiF 4 is considered to be of high toxicity, and direct damage can be caused to various organs in human body as people in the exposure to the off-gas.…”
