A field experiment was conducted during rabi 2020 at Crop Research Farm, Department of Genetics and Plant Breeding, SHAUTS, PRAYAGRAJ, (U.P.). The experiment was laid out in Randomized Block Design and comprised of 13 treatments and 3 replications. The treatments which are T0 -Control, T1-Panchagavya 3%, T2-Panchagavya 5%, T3- Panchagavya 5%, T4-Panchagavya 5%, T5- Gibberellic acid 10 ppm for 6 hours, T6-Gibberllic acid 10ppm for 12 hours, T7- Gibberellic aid 15ppm for 6 hours, T8-Gibberlic acid 15 ppm for 12hours, T9-IAA at 50 ppm, T10-IAA at 100 ppm, T11-NAA at 50 ppm, T12-NAA at 100 ppm used. The result showed that viz., Field emergence, Plant height 90 DAS, Days to 50% flowering, Number of branches, Days to maturity, Number of pods per plant, Number of seed per pod, Seed yield per plant (gm), Biological yield (gm), Seed index (gm) and Harvest index were recorded significantly highest in the treatment of T8-Gibberllic acid 15 ppm for 12 hours and the least performance was observed in T0-Control when compared to other treatments. Hence, the seed treatment of Gibberellic acid 15ppm for 12hours could be recommended for the Field Pea.

The influence of seed invigoration on seed yield and quality was studied in two seasons, i.e., summer and kharif. Among the seasons studied, seed quality parameters significantly differed for both seasons. Summer recorded the highest values in growth and yield parameters, viz., field emergence and plant population at harvest (91.75 and 87.75 %, respectively), number of nodules (35.71), seed yield (q/ha) (3.49), and seed quality parameters, viz., seed germination (%) (g) (91.7), and seedling vigour index I and II (3392 and 2252, respectively). But the lowest hard seeds were recorded in kharif (71.71%). Among treatments studied, 1 % ZnSO4 recorded the highest values in growth and yield parameters, viz., field emergence and plant population at harvest (96.50 and 91.17 %, respectively), number of nodules (38.50), pod length (cm), and number of seeds per pod (11.00 and 12.23, respectively). also in seed quality parameters, viz., seed germination (%) and 100 seed weight (g) (94.7 and 3.78, respectively), shoot length and root length (25.93 and 14.51 cm, respectively), mean seedling length (cm) and mean seedling dry weight (mg) (40.44 and 278, respectively), seedling vigour index I and II (3829 and 2636, respectively), and total dehydrogenase activity (A480nm) (1.825).

Background: Blackgram is an important pulse crop. The productivity of crops can be enhanced through various input management and selection of suitable genotypes for different systems and seasons of cultivation. An attempt was made to gather published information on crop management for yield maximisation. Methods: This work was done at Department of Agronomy, Agricultural College and Research Institute, Tamil Nadu Agricultural University, Madurai - 625104, Tamil Nadu, India. A systematic cum integrative review of research work done in different parts of World, particularly in India was comprehended. The literature search was done during September, 2019- February, 2020. About 200 review and research papers were screened from various data bases like TNAU e library, ARCC journals, Google scholar, Research gate and Scopus and 88 papers were used to write this paper. Result: This review article documents information gathered on importance of pulses, production and productivity status of blackgram, zero-budget, low-budget management techniques, INM, IPM, weed management besides foliar nutrition for yield enhancement under different systems of cultivation along-with genotype details for different seasons and situations and was presented comprehensively.
