This study was undertaken in the open field at the nursery of Hort. Res. Inst., ARC, Giza, Egypt during the winter of 2016/2017 and 2017/2018 seasons to find out the effect of some fertilization treatments, which were: foliar spraying with aqueous solution of amino acids mixture at the rate of 1 g/l (T1), T1 + soil drenching with potassium sulphate (K 2 SO 4) at 2 g/plant (T2), T1 + sodium selenate (Na 2 SeO 4) as foliar spray at 1 g/l (T3), T2 + Na 2 SeO 4 as foliar spray at 1 g/l (T4) and foliar spray with tap water only (as control) on growth, chemical composition and tolerance of one-year-old seedlings of Eucalyptus citriodora Hook. grown in 25-cm-diameter plastic pots filled with about 4 kg of sand + clay soil mixture (1:1, by volume) to winter months. The treatments were applied 2 times every month in a complete randomized design. The obtained results showed that means of the different growth parameters; expressed as: plant height, stem diameter, No. leaves/plant, root length, as well as fresh and dry weights of stem, leaves and roots were significantly increased as a result of applying the various treatments mentioned above relative to control means in the two seasons. However, the dominance was for the sole treatment of amino acids (T1) that gave the highest values over the combined treatments in both seasons. A similar trend was also obtained regarding the leaf content of chlorophyll a, b, carotenoids, total soluble sugars and total carbohydrates, as T1 treatment attained the highest records of such constituents, with few exceptions. However, the opposite was the right concerning the leaf content of N, P and K, where N % slightly decreased by T1 treatment, but increased to maximum by T2 one. As for P and K % recorded the highest by T4 treatment. Hence, it is enough to spray the foliage of E. citriodora plants cultivated in 25-cm-diameter plastic pots with the aqueous solution of amino acids mixture at the rate of 1 g/l, once every 15 days in winter months for keeping well growth and better quality plants.

This investigation was conducted in a private farm, Samannoud district, El-Gharbia Governorate, Egypt, during two successive seasons of 2017 and 2018 to study the effect of organic fertilizers and foliar spray of amino acid on vegetative growth, fruit yield, chemical composition and capsaicin content of hot pepper (Capsicum annum L var. Minimum) plant. The experiment included 13 treatments obtained from cattle manure at rates of 60 and 30 N-units per fed. combined with amino acid at 0, 100 and 200 ppm as well as chicken fertilizer at rates of 60 and 30 N-units per fed combined with amino acid at 0, 100 and 200 ppm, besides the treatment of NPK at recommended dose as a control. A complete randomized block design with three replicates was adopted. The obtained results showed that, the highest values from vegetative growth parameters, fruit yield, chemicals composition and capsaicin content were obtained from plants treated with cattle manure full dose + 200 ppm amino acids , followed by plants treated with chicken manure full dose + 200 ppm amino acids compared with all treatments except plant height, the highest value was obtained from plants treated with NPK (control) in the two seasons. Amino acid had a great effect when added with organic fertilization, whether cattle manure or chicken fertilizer at a concentration of 100 or 200 ppm. Based on the previous results, it could be recommend that spraying amino acids (glycine and glutamine) at the rate of 200 ppm along with organic fertilizers at the rate of 60 nitrogen units per feddan get the highest fruits yield, Vitamin C and capsaicin of hot pepper.

Selenium (Se) is one of the essential trace elements for human, but the Se deficiency of most areas resulting in low a Se content in fruits. To increase the Se uptake in fruit trees, the effects of foliar spraying four types of tea (black, green, white, and dark) infusions on the growth and Se uptake of Cyphomandra betacea were studied using a pot experiment. The white and dark tea infusions increased the biomass, superoxide dismutase activity, and catalase activity of C. betacea, while the black and green tea infusions had no significant effects. The green, white, and dark tea infusions increased the contents of photosynthetic pigments in C. betacea, the while the black tea infusions had no significant effects. The black, white, and dark tea infusions increased the peroxidase activity of C. betacea, while the green tea infusion decreased. All tea infusions increased the potassium (K) content in aboveground part of C. betacea and phosphorus (P) content in leaves to some extent. The different tea infusions decreased the Se contents in roots and shoots of C. betacea. Compared to the control, the black, green, white, and dark tea infusions decreased the Se contents in shoots by 16.67%, 27.30%, 33.33%, and 40.07%, respectively. Correlation analysis showed that the contents of P and K were negatively correlated with the Se content. Therefore, foliar spraying tea infusion can decrease the Se uptake in C. betacea, and the white and dark tea infusions can promote C. betacea growth.
