Effect of Prarasitism by Bracon Hebetor Wasp (Hymenoptera-Braconidae) On Cellular Immune Response of Polidia Interpunctella and Ephestia Kuehniella Larvae

Abstract

Entomology Journal publishes original research papers and reviews from any entomological discipline or from directly allied fields in ecology, behavioral biology,The present study investigated, an efficient idiobiont ectoparasitoid by Bracon hebetor (Hymenoptera: Braconidae) on the total and differential haemocyte counts (THCs) of 5 th larval instar of two important stored product pyralid pests Polidia interpunctella and Ephestia kuehniella. Certain changes consequences were observed in haemocytes of P. interpunctella 5 th larval instars at 12, 24, 48 and 72 after parasitization. Prohaemocytes (PRs) as well as cytoplasm are vacuolated and disorganized with cell lyses. The PLs are appeared with irregular nuclei and vacuolization in the cytoplasm with the degenerated cell wall of granulocytes releasing in the cytoplasm. Oenocytoids is irregular in shape with cell membrane lyses. The cytoplasm is vacuolated and degenerated. Cells of SPs are with irregular nuclei. Meanwhile, Parasitism of E. kuehniella 5 th larval instars by B. hebetor wasp induced changes in the hemocytes morphology. The differential haemocytes types in the P. interpunctella granulocytes, GRs are the predominant type followed by the plasmatocytes (PLs), spheriolocytes (SPs), oenocytoids (OEs), and prohaemocytes, (PRs), respectively. While, in the case of E. kuehniella 5 th larval instars, GRs, PLs and OEs are the predominant types of the haemocytes followed by SPs, then PRs.
