Effect of Polymer Addition on the Structure and Hydrogen Evolution Reaction Property of Nanoflower-Like Molybdenum Disulfide

Abstract: Nano-structured molybdenum disulfide (MoS2) catalysts have been extensively developed for the hydrogen evolution reaction (HER). Herein, a novel hydrothermal intercalation approach is employed to fabricate nanoflower-like 2H-MoS2 with the incorporation of three polymers, polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP), polyvinyl alcohol (PVA), and polyethylenimine (PEI). The as-prepared MoS2 specimens were characterized by techniques of scanning electron microscope (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), X-ray diffraction (… Show more

“…This indicated that the surface of the M, MF, MF-5, MF-3 and MF-1 is dominated by the terminated edges [23]. The frequency differences between E 1 2g and A 1 g peaks also provides information regarding the stacking layers [24,33]. The frequency differences between the E 1 2g and A 1 g peaks decreased gradually in the order of M > MF > MF-5 > MF-3 > MF-1.…”

“…To overcome this limitation, we introduced ammonium molybdate tetrahydrate (AHM) and thiourea as a liquid sintering aid. It is to be noted that these chemistries are used as precursors to synthesize MoS 2 during solvothermal and hydrothermal synthesis . Figure a and b shows the SEM micrograph of a dense cold sintered MG pellet.…”

“…Here, Y o (mS•s) is coefficient of constant phase element, n is dimensionless CPE exponent related to angle of constant phase element, while R s and R ct are solution and charge transfer resistances, respectively as described earlier [26][27][28]. Based on CPE exponent (n0 .8), CPE shows capacitive nature and the calculated Helmholtz double layer capacitance of MoS 2 nanoclusters is found to be 0.203 mF.…”
