The field experiment was conducted at Vegetable Research Farm, Kalyanpur of Chandra Shekhar Azad University of Agriculture and Technology, Kanpur, India during two consecutive rabi seasons of 2019-20 and 2020-21, to find out the effect of PGRs and their spray schedules on tomato. The experiment was laid out in Factorial Randomized Block Design (FRBD) with 27 treatment combinations and replicated thrice under insect proof net house. The experiment comprised nine levels of plant growth regulators viz., GA3 @ 50 ppm, GA3 @ 75 ppm, GA3 @ 100 ppm, NAA @ 20 ppm, NAA @ 30 ppm, NAA @ 40 ppm, 4-CPA @ 20 ppm, 4-CPA @ 30 ppm and 4-CPA @ 40 ppm and three spray schedules viz., at 30 and 45 DAT, at 30, 45 and 60 DAT and at 30, 45, 60 and 75 DAT. The tomato hybrid ‘NS- 4266’ was used in experiment. Results of the experiment revealed that the application of GA3 @ 75 ppm recorded significantly highest plant height (327.277 and 315.377 cm), stem girth (3.233 and 3.207 cm), internodal length (17.164 and 18.153 cm) and fruit yield per plant (12.223 and 13.208 kg) during both the years. The significantly earliest flowering (31.094 and 31.536 days), fruiting (40.352 and 40.307 days) and first harvest/picking (105.204 and 104.517) were also observed with this treatment. In case of spray schedules, the plants were sprayed at 30, 45, 60 and 75 days after transplanting (four sprays) recorded significantly highest values of all the growth parameters and fruit yield. The earliest flowering, fruiting and harvesting were also observed with four sprays schedule. Based on two years study, the significantly highest growth parameters, fruit yield and earliness in flowering, fruiting and harvesting were found with the treatment of application of GA3 @ 75 ppm and spray schedule of 30, 45, 60 and 75 days after transplanting. Hence, it may be recommended for higher productivity from tomato crop under protected conditions.

The experiment entitled "Effect of gibberellic acid and naphthalene acetic acid on growth yield and quality of chilli (Capsicum annum L.)” was conducted at Department of Horticulture, Naini Agricultural Institute, SHUATS, Prayagraj during August to December, 2021. Experiment was laid out in Factorial Randomized Block Design with three replications and ten treatment combinations. The experiment consisted of two factors. Factor A: Variety (two variety) as TMPH-449, TMPH-443 and Factor B: Plant growth regulator T1: NAA (30ppm) T2: NAA (40ppm) T3: GA3 (50ppm) T4: GA3 (100ppm). The results revealed that among the varieties studied, variety TMPH-449 resulted better in vegetative growth (Plant height, leaf area) whereas variety TMPH-443 resulted better in vegetative growth (Number of branches per plant), yield parameter (Minimum days taken for 50 percent flowering, minimum days to first harvest, length of fruit, fruit girth, weight of fruit, number of chilli fruit per plant, average fruit yield per plant, fruit yield per hectare), and quality parameter (total soluble solids). Among different concentrations of growth regulator application T2: NAA (40ppm) gave better result in vegetative growth (Plant height, Number of branches per plan, leaf area), yield parameter (Minimum days taken for 50 percent flowering, minimum days to first harvest, length of fruit, fruit girth, weight of fruit, number of chilli fruit per plant, average fruit yield per plant, fruit yield per hectare), and quality parameter (total soluble solids). The best interaction amount different variety and growth regulators were found to be variety TMPH-443 and Growth regulator T2: NAA (40ppm) which give maximum growth and quality characteristics of chilli.

Tomato (Solanum lycopersicum L.) member of family solanaceae is the world's most popular vegetable crop due to its wider adaptability to various agroclimatic conditions and multifarous uses. Plant growth regulators play an important role in increasing the growth, yield as well as quality of the produce if applied in suitable forms and at appropriate concentrations. Field experiments were conducted for two consecutive years during 2014 and 2015 to study the effect of plant growth regulators on tomato cultivar Solan Lalima. Six treatments of plant growth regulators viz. Vipul Booster (1 and 1.5 ml l -1) , Triacontanol (1 and 1.5 ml l -1 ) and NAA (20 and 30 mg l -1 ) were applied to tomato plants 15 days after transplanting and were compared to untreated control. Observations on growth parameters, yield contributing traits and fruit quality as affected by PGR,s were recorded. All the hormonal treatments were found to enhance vegetative growth, yield attributes and fruit quality of tomato, especially Triacontanol. Application of triacontanol @ 1.5 ml l -1 (T 4 ) recorded the maximum plant height (3.12 m), maximum number of leaves (39.5) , number of branches per plant (7.6), number of fruits per cluster (5.67) , number of fruits plant -1 (52.50), highest average fruit weight (72.2 g ) and fruit yield per plant (3.79 kg). Thus considering yield and other parameters, Triacontanol @1.5 ml l -1 , 15 days after transplanting was found best to increase the yield in tomato as compared to other treatments under study.
