“…As we could not use specific social relationships in exercising with others, future studies are needed to use specific social relationships in exercising with others to examine whether these social relationships mediate the association between exercising with others and health. Other possible mechanisms that may have a positive association with exercising with others are: adherence to exercise routines232425, self-esteem and other psychological factors5, social capital26 and other social factors4. For example, those who exercise with others may have continued to exercise for more years at the time of the survey than those who exercise alone.…”

“…Few studies of social benefit have been conducted that compare the differences of individual exercise and group exercise. In a cluster randomized controlled trial, group exercise at the workplace contributed to building more social capital within teams (bonding social capital) than exercise at home 37) . A cohort study of older Japanese adults who were not eligible for long-term care showed that, among those who exercised once a week or more, those who did not participate in a sports organization had a significantly higher hazard ratio for an incident functional disability of 1.29 (1.02-1.64) than participants in a sports organization 21) .…”

The questionnaire has been developed and validated with the use of qualitative interviews at the National Research Centre for the Working Environment in Copenhagen, Denmark [48].…”

“…The questionnaire has been developed and validated with the use of qualitative interviews at the National Research Centre for the Working Environment in Copenhagen, Denmark [48]. We have previously shown that implementing interventions on a department level (weekly exercises during working hours) can increase the bonding among healthcare workers [47]. …”
