“…Furthermore, consumption of nuts is essential to decrease aortic atherosclerosis in female apoE-deficient mice compared with consumption of a palm oil diet [28]. “…Then, we reviewed the titles and abstracts, and excluded 240 publications that did not meet our inclusion criteria. Subsequently, 15 full‐text articles were evaluated and six studies were excluded because of the following reasons: two studies were meeting abstract (Gulati & Misra, 2013; Petersen, Ricklefs, Alanbagy, Johnston, & Sweazea, 2013), one study involved intervention that was a combination of other components together with almond (Ren et al, 2020), one study with short duration (<24 h) (Bodnaruc, Prud'homme, & Giroux, 2020), one study used almond oil as intervention (Kaseb, Rashidi, Afkhami‐Ardekani, & Fallahzadeh, 2013), and one study was designed without a control group (Gulati, Misra, & Pandey, 2017). Finally, nine RCTs met the eligibility criteria and were included in this meta‐analysis (Bowen et al, 2019; Chen et al, 2017; Cohen & Johnston, 2011; Hou et al, 2018; Li et al, 2011; Liu et al, 2013; Lovejoy et al, 2002; Richmond, Williams, Mann, Brown, & Chisholm, 2013; Sweazea, Johnston, Ricklefs, & Petersen, 2014).…”
