In this study, the effects of the artificial-aging temperature and time on the mechanical properties and springback behavior of AA6061 are investigated. The results reveal that the yield strength, the tensile strength and the elongations decreased with the increasing artificial-aging temperature, but increased with the increasing artificial-aging time up to the peak age. The springback of the alloy increased significantly with the increasing artificial-aging time at the artificial-aging temperature ranging from 160°C to 180°C and decreased with the artificial-aging time at 200°C. The springback angle in the as-received condition is lower than in all the aged conditions. Rezultati so pokazali zmanj{anje meje te~enja, natezne trdnosti in raztezka pri nara{~anju temperature umetnega staranja ter pove~evanje teh vrednosti do maksimuma pri podalj{anju~asa staranja. Vzmetnost zlitine ob~utno nara{~a z nara{~anjem~asa umetnega staranja v obmo~ju temperatur od 160°C do 180°C in se zmanj{a s~asom umetnega staranja pri 200°C. Abstract-Recently forming industries faces spring back drawback in forming process like cold drawing, sheet metal forming, bending etc. These forming process resulted permanent deformation by cold forming to create different shapes. Spring back defect taking place during the forming process has been emphasized. The solution to such defect problems was also given. Literature review shows that considerable amount of researches have been conducted in the field of material forming and spring-back optimization process. The present review focuses on the cold forming processes, spring back defect, factors affecting spring back, the various methods used to analyze and optimize the spring back free process. This review also opens future research work to get dimensional stability and least springback.

Prediction of Sheet Drawing Characteristics with Square Drawbead Elements Using Response Surface Methodology

Drawbeads are often used in the sheet metal forming processes to provide a better control of the material flow into the die cavity. The drawbead restraint force (DBRF) and the exit thickness are two important sheet drawing characteristics to be determined for the selection and installation of the drawbead elements. This study presents the effects of drawbead geometry and sheet material on drawbead restraining force and thinning. Mathematical correlation between the drawbead geometry, sheet material and drawing characteristics was investigated by using Response Surface Methodology (RSM), which is a global approximation method ideally suited for solving highly nonlinear optimization problems. The proposed response surface model for DBRF and thinning showed a good correlation with the experimental data available in the literature. RSM could be considered as an alternative and practical technique to evaluate the sheet drawing characteristics. The method can also be applied to other sheet metal forming issue.
