Effect of nicotinic acid on micellization and viscosity of surfactants in aqueous solutions

Abstract: The effect of nicotinic acid on critical micelle concentration (CMC) and viscosity of sodium dodecyl sulfate, cetylpyridinium bromide, and hexadecyl poly[oxyethylene(20)] alcohol solutions is studied. The values of CMC and micelle ionization degree are obtained. The thermodynamic parameters of micelli zation are determined. The values of Jones-Dole coefficients are determined based on the results of viscosity measurements.
