Effect of multiwalled carbon nanotubes on electrical conductivity and magnetoconductivity of polyaniline

Abstract: An in situ chemical polymerization method was applied in order to prepare polyaniline-multiwalled carbon nanotube (PANI-MWCNT) composites with different concentrations of MWCNT. X-ray diffraction, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy, optical absorption and photoluminescence analyses of the composites were performed to investigate the structural, morphological and optical properties of the composites. Electrical transport properties of different PANI-MWCNT composites were inves… Show more

“…Carbon nanotubes (CNT), which was discovered by Iijima in 1990s , have gained much interest over these few years in numerous applications owing to their unique structure, high aspect ratio, excellent thermal, mechanical strength, and chemical stability . Recently, combining CNT with polymer matrix has improved the electrical conductivity and mechanical properties that differ from those of the individual components .…”

“…The ease of preparation processes of polymer composites and the diverse range of applications are the driving force of continuous research in this arena. Another aspect of studying the polymer nanocomposite and polymer blend is the quest to understand the rich and intriguing physics of these complex systems [7][8][9][10][11][12][13][14]. If we can vary the property systematically by controlling the filler content into the matrix, it will surely open up new avenues of applications.…”

“…Decrease in the values of dc conductivity and effective permittivity with increasing loading of Ag particles were reported by Mahendia et al [34]. Polyvinyl alcohol-carbon nanotube (CNT) based composites have also been reported to be promising materials having interesting magneto transport properties [1,7,9]. Apart from these, electrical properties of PVA/ Barium Zirconium Titanate polymer ceramic composites [35] and polymer -Sr modified Barium Zirconium Titanate ceramic has also been studied by Senthil et al [36].…”

“…The calculated values of resistivity ratio q r are presented in Table 1. The smaller value of q r for 1 M SDS-doped sample indicates the presence of less disorder giving rise to smaller value of T M for this sample [24]. Morvant et al [25] have performed the in situ conductivity measurements on PEDOT and obtained conductivity up to 13 S/cm.…”
