“…4a), the two peaks located at binding energies of 159.28 eV and 164.58 eV are ascribed to Bi 4f 7/2 and Bi 4f 5/2 , suggesting that bismuth exists in the form of Bi 3+ in BOL-2. 10,37 Compared with pure (BiO) 2 OHCl shown in Fig. 4b, these two Bi 4f peaks are found to slightly shift to higher bonding energy regions, possibly resulting from the interaction between La(OH) 3 and (BiO) 2 OHCl.…”

“…As well known, OVs can easily produce in BOX (X = Cl, Br, I) under UV‐light irradiation which can be attributed to weak bond energy and long bond length of Bi–O bond. Meanwhile, defect energy levels under conduction band of BiOBr and BiOCI,, which induced by oxygen vacancies, can act as electronic capture centers to suppress the recombination of photogenerated electron–hole pairs as well as further expand the light‐responsive . Moreover, abundant surface dangling bonds generated by the coordination‐unsaturated character of OVs can act as active sites, which not only promote the adsorption of the substrate but also facilitate the adsorption‐desorption of the intermediates .…”
