Abstract:We report the non-adiabatic dynamics, performed in the surface hopping formalism, of an environment-dependent luminescent organic DNA probe. In particular we have shown that the first shell solvent water molecules undergo a rather complex reorganization upon light excitation. This involves also the triggering of a water-mediated proton transfer process which leads to the formation of the tautomeric structure. The presence of this solvent-mediated transfer mechanism globally diminishes the intersystem crossing … Show more

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
