Effect of MgF2 and Al2O3 supports on the structure and catalytic activity of copper–manganese oxide catalysts

Abstract: Structure and catalytic activity of double copper-manganese oxide catalysts supported on MgF 2 and Al 2 O 3 have been studied. All samples were calcined at 400°C and those supported on Al 2 O 3 also at 550 and 950°C. The properties of surface species have been characterized by low temperature adsorption of nitrogen, XRD and TPR-H 2 . The catalytic activities have been tested in lowtemperature CO oxidation and in NO reduction by propene. The supported oxides react with each other during calcination to form CuMn… Show more

“…It has been tested successfully as a support of oxide and metallic phases [1], making active and selective catalysts of oxidation [2,3], reduction [4,5] and hydrogenolysis [6,7]. However, its drawback in potential applications as a support is a low stability of texture above 400°C--the surface area decreases from *45 at 400 to *23 m 2 g -1 at 500°C and 4.3 at 700°C [1].…”
