Effect of LLDPE on Aging Resistance and Thermal, Mechanical, Morphological Properties of UHMWPE/LLDPE Blends

Abstract: Blends of ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene (UHMWPE) and different contents (0, 10, 20 and 30 wt%) of linear low-density polyethylene (LLDPE) with and without maleic anhydridegrafted LLDPE (LLDPE-g-MA) were prepared by melt blending and aging resistance, thermal and mechanical properties were evaluated. The degree of crystallinity increases with the content of LLDPE in the blends. On the other hand, the addition of compatibilizer agent modifies the crystallinity and the crystallite size. Non-compatibili… Show more

“…The polyethylene presents an orthorhombic crystal lattice, and the diffraction profiles are relative to the aforementioned crystallographic planes. 45,46 The characteristic peaks of LLDPE can be clearly observed in the nanocomposite samples. This indicates the crystalline structure of LLDPE was not significantly affected by compounding with different amounts of HNTs.…”

“…), which has been widely concerned by researchers in recent years. [18][19][20][21] However, UHMWPE has been characterized by high viscosity, poor fluidity, and difficult processing, which makes it difficult to be processed by traditional mechanical methods. In view of this, it is nearly impossible to use UHMWPE as a film material alone in current industrial applications.…”

“…Ultra‐high molecular weight polyethylene (UHMWPE), a thermoplastic engineering plastic, has many wonderful properties (e.g., good mechanical properties, good wear resistance and heat resistance, strong anti‐aging ability, good chemical stability, etc. ), which has been widely concerned by researchers in recent years 18–21 …”
