Effect of lanthanum on thermal and mechanical properties of modified polyvinyl chloride film

Abstract: Polyvinyl chloride (PVC) hybrid film containing cerium, tin and folic acid modified nano titanium dioxide is a new functional material with good compatibility, light resistance and heat resistance. In this work, the PVC hybrid film was prepared by replacing cerium with lanthanum. The hybrid film was characterized by thermogravimetric infrared spectroscopy, dynamic mechanical analysis, atomic force microscopy, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy, tensile strength and thermal aging. Th… Show more

“…These results confirm that the complex with Ca/Zn‐ST 2 and expendable graphite improves the thermal stability of PVC, exerting more thermal stabilization behavior at less. Therefore, the thermal stabilization of PVC samples could occur as a result of chemical interaction between one of these products and the thermal stabilizer 32 . The addition of calcium ion and its expendable graphite as heat stabilizers to PVC resulted in a noticeable shift in the glass transition temperature ( T g ) of the samples (1–5) at 128, 130, 138, 140, and 175°C respectively.…”

“…Therefore, the thermal stabilization of PVC samples could occur as a result of chemical interaction between one of these products and the thermal stabilizer. 32 The addition of calcium ion and its expendable graphite as heat stabilizers to PVC resulted in a noticeable shift in the glass transition temperature (T g ) of the samples (1-5) at 128, 130, 138, 140, and 175 C respectively. This shift indicates that the heat stabilizers are modifying the molecular mobility of the PVC, making it more resistant to high temperatures indicates that physical interaction of the polymer with the EG surface reduces the chain mobility and free volume, which results in an increase in T g .…”
