Abstract:Our data suggest that HBeAg-positive patients with higher ALT levels can be considered good candidates for lamivudine therapy, probably because lamivudine accelerates the natural seroconversion of HBeAg, accompanied by HBV DNA loss, in these patients.
We suggest that an HBV DNA level <2,000 copies/mL at 6 month after lamivudine therapy is the most important predictor of HBeAg loss during up to 1 year of lamivudine therapy.
