Effect of L-Tryptophan and L-Glutamic Acid on Carrot Yield and Its Quality

Abstract: Positively affecting crop quality and yields, amino acids used as plant stimulants play a special role in ensuring global food security. L-tryptophan (L-Try) and L-glutamic acid (L-Glu) are important biostimulants that increase the yield of field crops and vegetables. Carrot is one of the most important vegetables due to its production volume in the world (sixth most consumed vegetable) and its nutritional value. The response of different plant species to amino acid application varies. The literature mainly de… Show more

“…In addition, critical steps of tryptophan (Trp) metabolism and synthesis are regulated by PLP-dependent enzymes [78]. Essential amino acids such as Trp have been reported to increase the ability of plant cells in water and nutrient uptake from the soil [79]. Sufficient water and nutrient uptake are necessary to sustain plant growth and development, especially in rice plants which require high amounts of water [80,81].…”

“…The importance of amino acids in agriculture is very high. The main effect of products containing amino acids is to stimulate plant growth and development by providing amino acids ready for incorporation into the metabolic pathway as complete “building blocks.” This has a direct beneficial effect on protein and carbohydrate synthesis and improves the utilization of nitrogen supplied in organic form ( 19 ). The study of efficient protease-producing yeast and cell conditions during the one-step bioconversion of chromium-protein-rich wastes can be used to design new and environmentally friendly waste management strategies.…”
