Effect of Incorporation of Silver Nanoparticles on the Tensile Bond Strength of a Long term Soft Denture Liner

Abstract: Objectives This study aimed at assessing the effect of the addition of silver nanoparticles (SNPs) to a silicone soft liner on its tensile bond strength to denture base resin. Materials and Methods SNPs were added to Mucopren cold cure soft liner in 0 (control), 0.5, 1, 2, and 3 wt% concentrations and bonded in 120 stainless steel molds with processed heat cure acrylic resin blocks. Liner/resin combination samples were divided into two groups. The first half was stored for 2 days in distilled water at 37°C and… Show more

“…The score for the satisfaction questionnaire with the relining in the final time point (after 180 days) was negatively influenced by reliner material in both techniques, in a way that there was a perception that parts of the relining material had come loose from the base of the inferior denture, probably due to the lack of chemical union between these materials. 2,20,27,28 In the last two time points (90 and 180 days) of the evaluation, the occlusal force of the patients significantly greater when compared with the initial time point, for both techniques, and for the three regions evaluated (p < 0.05; ►Table 3). This probably occurred since the effort, capacity, and the muscular force increased due to the inferior complete denture having good retention and stability after the relining.…”

“…Vimbela et al .,[ 15 ] in 2017, investigated the antimicrobial properties, with four different concentrations of Ag nanoparticles 1, 2, 3and 5 (wt%) and proved significant reduction of C. albicans at 5wt% in resins and liners. Habibzadeh., et al .,[ 16 ] in 2020 investigated three different silver concentrations of 0.3, 0.8 and 1.6 (wt%), in PMMA where 0.8 and 1.6 (wt%) showed reduction in flexural strength and elastic modulus of resins.…”
