Effect of hydrophobic nano‐silica/β‐nucleating agent on the crystallization behavior and mechanical properties of polypropylene random copolymers

Shiqi Chen,
Luhan Bai,
Xuanlun Wang
et al.

Abstract: In this work, hydrophobic nano‐silica (SiO2) and β‐nucleating agent are incorporated into polypropylene random copolymer (PP‐R) matrix by melt blending. The effect of nano‐SiO2/β‐nucleating agents content on crystallization and mechanical behaviors of polypropylene random copolymer was investigated in detail. When the nano‐SiO2 was 0.5 wt% and the β‐nucleating agent content was 0.5 wt%, the tensile strength and impact strength of the composite were in a more balanced position. Regarding isothermal and non‐isot… Show more

“…The obtained 9 mm diameter Ge 15 Ga 10 Te 75 cylindrical rod was wrapped with a polypropylene (PP polyethylene) polymer film to form a macroscopic prefabricated rod with a diameter of 20 mm. The assembled prefabricated rod was then concreted for 60 min in a vacuum environment at 445 K to eliminate residual air and form a high-quality interface.…”

“…The obtained TE fibers serving as a thermal sensor exhibit a precise temperature resolution of 0.03 K and a fast response time of 4 s. Through weaving of the TE fibers into a mask and a wearable fabric, TE textiles can perform functions of human respiration and body temperature monitoring. The excellent thermal sensing properties and superior flexibility of the TE fibers enable their promising applications in artificial intelligence and healthcare systems. …”

“…Some existing synthetic applications fall into this category. A reliable antiwetting behavior of surfaces over extended periods is essential for many industrial applications of nonwetting surfaces. Wear, erosion, corrosion, and oxidation are some of the degradation processes that surfaces experience in industrial applications. In addition, UV degradation is another challenge for SHCs. During the day, sunlight produces a large dose of UV light, generating free radicals on polymeric surfaces .…”

“…To increase the efficient use of waste plastics, Meng et al 36 studied blends of recycled acrylonitrile–butadiene–styrene and high‐impact polystyrene to improve the utilization of waste plastics. Blends of hydrophobic nano‐silica (SiO 2 ) and β‐nucleating agent, incorporated into polypropylene random copolymer, were used by Chen et al 37 to enhance the scratch resistance and strength of composite materials. Luo et al 38 applied Surlyn‐Zn 2+ and zinc stearate to enhance the rheological properties, crystallinity, thermal stability and mechanical characteristics of ethylene–acrylic acid co‐polymer.…”
