Effect of hot drawing on the structure and properties of novel polyamide 5,6 fibers

Abstract: Polyamide 5,6 (PA 5,6) fibers were prepared using the melt-spinning method. The effects of draw ratio and temperature on the structure and properties of PA 5,6 fibers were investigated by means of differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), wide-angle X-ray diffraction, sonic velocity and tensile test measurements. DSC results revealed that the melting temperature showed no considerable variation, while the heat of fusion increased with increments with draw ratio and temperature. It was found that the crystallini… Show more

“…Lysine decarboxylase is one of the PLP-fold type I enzymes and catalyzes the decarboxylation of lysine to cadaverine (also known as 1,5-diaminopentane), which is an important platform chemical used in the production of various bio-based polyamides 25 26 27 . These bio-based polyamides exhibit many attractive properties and could compete with the conventional petroleum-based polyamides in all examined fields 28 29 . Moreover, these polyamides are of special interest due to the increasing focus on a low-carbon bio-economy.…”

“…In the hot‐drawn process, the stiff rod‐like molecular chains are not regular enough to crystallize, and the small crystallites in the amorphous region are reluctant to newly orient by reconstruction. Therefore, the crystalline orientation of hot‐drawn co ‐PMTA 3 fiber is unchanged and the crystallinity increases slightly, unlike those of poly(ethylene terephthalate) and polyamide fibers …”

“…Moreover, PA56 also shows a higher dyebath exhaustion than PA6 during the dyeing process carried out with acid dyes . Overall, the biobased PA56 has a good balance between chemical resistance, wear and abrasion resistance, mechanical, and thermal properties …”
