Effect of hot band annealing on inclusions, texture, and magnetic properties of 2.97%Si-0.59% Al non-oriented silicon steel

Abstract: Effects of hot band annealing on inclusions, texture and magnetic properties of the 2.97%Si-0.59%Al non-oriented silicon steel sheet with 0.3 mm in thickness were investigated by scanning electron microscope and Electron Backscattered Diffraction (EBSD). With the increase of hot band annealing temperature, the inclusions of 0.1-1 μm in hot band obviously reduced, the area fraction of {100}<110> texture prominently increased during recrystallization of hot band. However, the area fraction of {100}<110> dramatic… Show more

“…[ 16 ] The size of MnS obviously increased after normalized annealing. [ 17 ] Precipitates retained in the cold‐rolled sheet preferentially became the origin of the oxidation point to form dark spots, as also shown in Fang's work. [ 18 ] More appeared in the samples normalized above 1000 °C.…”

“…Recently, innovative procedures in production have been implemented to satisfy the above requirements [33,34]. In some cases, an additional hot strip annealing before cold rolling is used to achieve commercially higher permeability grades [35,36]. In case of Fe-Si steels with phase transformation, the modification of the hot rolling schedule or hot finishing temperature could improve the magnetization behavior due to the sharper texture components [37][38][39].…”

“…Numerous investigations [ 4 , 5 , 6 , 7 , 8 , 9 , 10 , 11 , 12 ] have already been conducted trying to optimize the processing parameters to eliminate the magnetically unfavorable texture while promoting the desired texture in non-oriented electrical steels. Increasing the shear band structure of the cold-rolled sheet is an effective way to promote <001>//ND texture of non-oriented electrical steel in the recrystallization process [ 13 , 14 , 15 , 16 , 17 ]. The Taylor model is also used to theoretically simulate the initial grain deformation process [ 18 , 19 ].…”
