Effect of Holding Time on Density and Morphological Property of Aluminium Composite Using Recycled Materials by Stir Casting Method

Abstract: Aluminium metal matrix composites were fabricated from recycled materials via stir casting method. The composites differed in their holding time (ht) that is 30 minutes, 45 minutes and 60 minutes accordingly. The microstructures of the composites were analysed using optical microscope as well as scanning electron microscope in order to examine their morphological make-up. The average densities of the composites were determined and compared with one another. There is no significant difference between average de… Show more

“…The MMCs are made up of reinforcing materials and metal matrix such as aluminum (Al), titanium (Ti) or steel (Fe) to obtain another material with enhanced mechanical and thermal properties [1,17]. Al based metal matrix composites (AMCs) have gained lots of recognition in all areas of engineering and technology due to their superior properties as compared to monolithic materials [2,18]. Recycling is regarded as a method determined on reusing waste in order to maintain the natural resources, energies, reducing pollution as well as reducing the cost and demand of monolithic elements [3,19].…”
