Abstract:One of the physiological changes following moderate intensity aerobic exercise is a transient reduction in blood pressure, termed post‐exercise hypotension (PEH), which is exercise intensity and duration dependent. This short‐term reduction in blood pressure is dependent upon skeletal muscle histamine production and release, which causes increased conductance via local activation of histamine H1 and H2 receptors. PEH is abolished when antihistamines are consumed prior to exercise. Additionally, histamine‐recep… Show more
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
