Introduction The use of electrocardiograms (ECGs) is widespread among emergency room (ER) nurses for diagnosis and triage, making it crucial for them to have the appropriate level of competency in interpreting ECGs. This can lead to better healthcare and patient outcomes. Objectives This study aims to assess the competency level of emergency nurses in Palestine in interpreting normal ECG and certain cardiac arrhythmias, and to explore the association between socio-demographic characteristics and their ECG interpretation competency. Methods The study used a cross-sectional descriptive design, and 196 ER nurses were conveniently recruited to fill out a self-administered questionnaire based on previous literature. The data collected were analyzed using SPSS with strict adherence to ethical considerations. Results The results showed that 70.9% of the nurses were males, 65.3% held a bachelor's degree in nursing, 46.9% had 1–5 years of experience, and 60.7% had received previous courses on ECG interpretation. The mean competency level of the ER nurses was satisfactory at 60.714%, but 38.8% had a poor level of competency. This was significantly higher among nurses with higher educational levels ( p-value < 0.001), those who had taken previous ECG courses ( p-value = 0.045) and life support ( p-value < 0.05), and those who were exposed to more ECG interpretations per day ( p-value = 0.001). Conclusion There is a need to focus more on ECG competency levels in Palestinian literature and compare them between different departments. It is also essential to evaluate nurses’ needs for continuous education.

Peningkatan kesehatan reproduksi melibatkan penanganan banyak faktor. Dengan mengenali kompleksitas dan perbedaan dalam kesehatan reproduksi, intervensi dan kebijakan dapat disesuaikan untuk memenuhi beragam kebutuhan individu dan komunitas, yang pada akhirnya akan berkontribusi pada peningkatan hasil kesehatan dan kesejahteraan secara keseluruhan. Informasi kesehatan reproduksi sangat penting bagi remaja, dan berbagai penelitian telah mengeksplorasi berbagai aspek terkait sumber informasi dan dampaknya. Penelitian menunjukkan bahwa keluarga mempunyai peran penting dalam komunikasi kesehatan reproduksi. Pemangku kepentingan, juga berperan penting dalam memberikan dukungan dan edukasi mengenai kesehatan reproduksi. Penelitian menunjukkan bahwa remaja mungkin memiliki pengetahuan yang terbatas tentang masalah kesehatan reproduksi, dimana sumber seperti teman, media, dan anggota keluarga di luar rumah tangga kurang efektif dalam mendorong komunikasi. Komunikasi yang efektif mengenai kesehatan seksual dan reproduksi sangatlah penting, dan kurangnya keterampilan komunikasi dapat menghambat pemberian informasi kesehatan reproduksi kepada remaja.

Background: Consanguineous marriage is defined as a relationship or union between two individuals who are sharing common ancestors as the first or second cousins. Aim: This study was aimed to determine the knowledge and attitude towards consanguineous marriage among secondary school students in Al-Mukalla district, Yemen. Method: A cross sectional study was conducted among governmental and private secondary school students in Al-Mukalla district during the educational year 2021/2022. A multistage sampling method was used for selection the participants. The data were collected by using a 406 pre-tested self-administered questionnaire computed from another study. Results: The total of 406 students aged (15-22) years participated in the study. (79.3%) in age group (15)(16)(17)(18). Male students comprised (53%) of the sample and the remaining (47%) were females. Most of the participants had moderate knowledge and neutral attitude (81.3% and 69% respectively). About one half of them heard about the association between consanguineous marriage with thalassemia and congenital anomalies. Friends, school and internet were the most prevalence sources of information. Males had significantly higher knowledge score than females, on other hand females had higher attitude score towards consanguineous marriage compared to males (P=0.002 and P=0.000 respectively). Conclusion and recommendations: Most of the participants had moderate knowledge and neutral attitude towards consanguineous marriage. Educational campaigns are needed to raise awareness at the school level to transfer knowledge from classroom to homes. Social media and television should play an important role in conveying health information to the public in urban and rural area.
