Effect of foliar application of growth activator, promoterand antioxidant on seed quality of soybean

Abstract: Loss of seed quality in soybean is a serious problem in tropical and subtropical region. Foliar application of salicylic acid (SA), GA 3 and acetyl salicylic acid (50 ppm) at seedling and pod filling stage, K 2 HPO 4 (2%), -tocopherol (100 ppm) at flowering and pod filling stage was done on soybean varieties -NRC 7 and JS 335. Foliar application of SA showed positive effect on seed yield, seed health, germination and seed vigour during storage. Plant height was significantly improved by the GA 3 spray in both… Show more

“…Spraying vegetating plants with the Albite growth regulator increases their productivity; similar results were obtained by V. A. Gushchina [4] with the use of the JUSS stimulant. The same pattern was observed in legumes in case of using foliar growth regulators by foreign researchers Cuchlan R. [5], Mina H. [6], Sumati A. [7].…”

“…Soybean (Glycine max L. Merr) is one of the most interesting grain legumes. It is an essential source of protein, edible oil, copper, zinc and manganese for both human and animal nutrition as well as a notable feedstock for biodiesel production (Kuchlan et al 2017). Imposing plants to water deficit results in the accumulation of osmolytes, stress tolerance proteins and changes in antioxidant enzyme activity (Tripathi et al 2015).…”

“…These morphological aspects result from the physiological changes caused by the application of plant growth regulators and directly reflect the physiological quality of the seeds produced. Kuchlan et al (2017) also observed that the foliar application of plant growth regulator during the production improved seed germination and vigour, which indicates that plant growth regulators could be applied in order to increase the physiological quality in seed production.…”

“…In this context, the physiological quality of seeds produced by plants grown with plant growth regulators can be altered. Kuchlan, Kuchlan, and Husain (2017) observed these changes when evaluating the germination and electrical conductivity of soybean seeds produced under the application of plant growth regulators.…”
