This study was carried out to investigate the residual characteristics of flubendiamide in kale to establish pre-harvest residue limits (PHRL) and the removal efficiency according to the washing solvent and method. Field tests were conducted at two different greenhouses, field 1 (Anseong-si, Gyeonggi-do) and field 2 (Incheon-si, Gyeonggi-do). According to the safe use guidelines kale was sprayed with flubendiamide twice every 10 days and harvested 0 (after 2 h), 1, 2, 3, 5, 7 and 10 days after the final application. The biological half-live of flubendiamide in kale was calculated based on dissipation curves of the pesticide in samples analyzed by liquid chromatography coupled with tandem mass spectrometry. In the analysis, method limits of quantitation (MLOQ) were 0.01 mg/kg, and recoveries performed with two different fortification levels of 10 MLOQ and maximum residue limit (0.7 mg/kg) were 104.2±3.6 and 101.9±10.2%, respectively. The dissipation rate constant of flubendiamide in kales were 0.2437 at field 1 and 0.1981 at field 2. PHRL calculation equations obtained using the dissipation constants estimated as follows: if the residual concentration of flubendiamide in kale on 10 days before harvest is less than 8.0 mg/kg, the residual concentration on the harvest would be under MRL. The removal of flubendiamide from kale was the greatest when it was washed with vinegar (39.8%), followed by baking soda (31.7%), calcium powder (30.2%), neutral detergent (27.2%), and tap water (15.9%). The results of this study would be useful for both farmers and consumers to produce or consume safe agricultural products.

BACKGROUND: It is important to understand residual patterns of pesticides applied on crops for ensuring their safety in agricultural products. However, there are few studies on the residual patterns of pesticides in minor crops, which are small in cultivation area. In this study, residual amounts of bifenthrin and chlorfenapyr sprayed on perilla leaf as a minor crop were investigated to know their residual patterns. METHODS AND RESULTS: Bifenthrin and chlorfenapyr were sprayed 2 or 3 times on perilla leaves at a week interval prior to harvest, and the perilla leaves were collected at 0, 1, 3, 5 and 7 days after the final application of pesticides. Recoveries for residual analysis of pesticides spiked on perilla leaves with concentrations of 0.1 and 0.5 mg/kg were 81.9-104.8%. In order to obtain efficient control effect of the pesticide, it is important to ensure uniform adhesion to the desired plant parts at the right time. Pesticide spray method (application technology) is an important factor affecting the efficacy and crops persistent expression. The aim of this study was to develop an efficient system to investigate the coating weight distribution of citrus leaves due to the difference between the nozzle and spray sprinkler system using dithianon used in citrus scab. Other An, engine type sprayer was used as the control. Speed sprayer and different sprinklers were wsed to way the deposit amounts of dithianon on citrus leaves. The test was conducted at the National Institute of Horticultural Herbal Science Citrus Research Station, located in the circle citrus Jeju Island. In order to examine whether the citrus orchard spray and the evenl on the whole, dithianon (43% flowable 1000-fold dilution) was sprayed, filter paper and leaves were analyzed by the height as top, middle, bottom. Speed sprayer the was most effective on depositing at the middle position, of the leaves. All other sprays the leaces except the dry mist sprinkler were not effective enough to deposit on the back sides. To achieve more deposits on the high position leaves, an improve ment in the nozzle and an efficient power system of sprayer were needed.
