This study evaluated the effect of dietary soluble non-starch polysaccharides (sNSP) on performance and nutrient utilisation in broilers from d 0 to 35. Cobb 500 broilers (n = 480, 80 birds per treatment) were fed either wheat- or corn-soybean meal-based diets formulated to contain either a high, medium, or low sNSP content, in a 2 × 3 factorial arrangement, fed as Starter (d 0–14) and Grower (d 14–35). Birds fed the low sNSP level presented greater BWG at d 0–14 and lower feed intake at d 14–35 compared to birds fed the medium sNSP level (p < 0.005). At d 14, birds fed the high sNSP level presented greater ileal and total tract starch digestibility and total tract sNSP degradability and insoluble NSP degradability, compared to feeding the low sNSP level. At d 35, total tract DM and metabolisability of gross energy was greater in birds fed the medium sNSP level compared to those fed the high or low sNSP level (p < 0.005). Generally, bird performance and nutrient utilisation was greater in birds fed the corn-based diets compared to the wheat-based diets. These results illustrate that dietary sNSP level and composition influences bird performance and nutrient digestibility.

Following the European Union’s restriction on antibiotic growth promoters, research on enhancing gut health has been accelerated. As the poultry industry is facing issues that were previously managed by antimicrobial growth promoters, the hunt for the best remedies continues to find suitable alternatives. Simultaneously, social pressure is mounting to reduce the usage of antibiotics and replace them with other feed additives. Consumers believe a number of accessible options to be safe, with phytogenics playing a crucial role. This review describes how the use of fennel seeds could be beneficial for poultry. An overview of the broad chemical diversity of fennel is presented together with their physicochemical and biological properties. According to investigations, fennel seeds have a variety of biological effects in birds, including improved performance, higher immune cell proliferation, reduced oxidative stress, and boosted antibody titers against infectious diseases. The efficacy of poultry outcomes is determined by the stage and age of the plants, the extraction process, the geographical location, the chicken species, management techniques, and the concentrations administered. The present review focuses on the effects of fennel seeds as a feed additive on poultry growth, carcass quality, blood biochemistry, antioxidant activity, immunity, and microbiological aspects.

Эффективность выращивания цыплят-бройлеров напрямую зависит от функционального состояния желудочно-кишечного тракта (N. Abdelli c соавт., 2021). Микробиом кишечника играет ключевую роль в модуляции иммунной системы и регуляции пищеварительной функции. Взаимосвязь между рационом и таксономическим профилем вызывает особый интерес к функциональным продуктам питания, положительно влияющим на микробиом (S. Khan c соавт., 2020). Метаболиты, синтезируемые микроорганизмами кишечника, служат основными модуляторами перекрестной коммуникации между хозяином и микробиомом. Среди таковых выделяют короткоцепочечные жирные кислоты, триптамин, конъюгированные линолевые кислоты, индол и его производные, а также желчные кислоты (S.A. Lee c соавт., 2017; S. Khan c соавт., 2020). Следовательно, микробиом -это основополагающее звено в поддержании продуктивных взаимодействий между хозяином и кишечником (S.A. Lee c соавт., 2017). Фитобиотики (ФБ) служат безопасной и эффективной альтернативой кормовым антибиотикам (M. Kikusato c соавт., 2021). Цель настоящего обзорасистематизация информации об эффективности ФБ как потенциальных регуляторов микробиома кишечника у цыплят-бройлеров. Полезные функции растительных экстрактов в основном зависят от их специфических биоактивных компонентов (органические кислоты, полисахариды, флавоны), которые синтезируются в качестве антимикробных средств против патогенных микроорганизмов (O.A. Багно c соавт., 2018; J.J. Flees c соавт., 2021). Известно, что механизм действия ФБ заключается в разрушении мембраны патогенных микроорганизмов, модификации поверхности клеток с изменением вирулентности, стимуляции иммунной системы (S. Diaz-Sanchez c соавт., 2015). Контакт микробиома и фитохимических веществ -это двусторонний процесс, в котором бактерии метаболизируют полифенолы в более простые метаболиты, в свою очередь, полифенолы оказывают влияние на популяцию кишечных микроорганизмов, приводя к сдвигу метаболической активности (Y. Iqbal c соавт., 2020). ФБ контролируют рост и таксономический состав микробиома кишечника, поскольку фитохимические вещества подобно пребиотикам положительно влияют на состояние желудочно-кишечного тракта даже при минимальном всасывании в тонком кишечнике (J. Martel c соавт., 2020). При скармливании фитохимических веществ повышаются показатели продуктивности птицы. Установлено, что дополнение рациона ФБ оказывает положительный эффект на метаболическую активность организма и повышает его адаптационный потенциал, что выражается в активации экспрессии некоторых генов (IL6 и BPIFB3) как у зараженных, так и у незараженных птиц (G.Y. Laptev c соавт., 2021). Растительные соединения способны не только напрямую улучшать здоровье цыплят-бройлеров, но и модулировать микробиоту их желудочно-кишечного тракта, повышая продуктивность (O.A. Багно c соавт., 2018).
