Abstract:Two‐dimensional cluster and pattern formation by charged grains in plasma under external harmonic force and transverse magnetic field is investigated using molecular dynamics simulation. It is found that, as a result of the Yukawa‐like grain‐grain interaction and the external fields, the asymptotic quasistationary state of an initially homogeneous and Maxwellian velocity distributed grain system can be a disk cluster with the grain trajectories having flowery zonal patterns.

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
