Background: Chronic pancreatitis is complex conditions that are requiring multi-faceted care with a range of interventions from a variety of specialists. Aim: This study was aimed to evaluate the effect of implementing educational guidelines on nurse's performance for patients with chronic pancreatitis. Subjects and Method: A quasi-experimental research design was used with a purposive sample of nurses (50) of both sexes, who directly caring for pancreatic patient in medical department at Tanta University. Tools: Tool (I) Nurses knowledge assessment questionnaire sheet, it was be divided into two part: part (A) sociodemographic characteristics of nurses , part (B) nurses' knowledge questionnaire Tool (II) nurses practice observational checklist, and Tool (III) the comprehensive pain assessment tool (full COMPAT questionnaire). Results: The results revealed highly significant differences were observed in the mean score of nurses' knowledge, and practice in relation to nursing management throughout periods of the study since P=<0.001. according to the nurse total practice score throughout period of study, this result reveals that more than half (58%) had unsatisfactory score of practice about chronic pancreatitis care in the preprogram implementation compared with the majority (88%) of nurses had satisfactory practice score immediately and respectively (84%) after one month of program. Also, it was observed that the mean score increased immediately after program compared to pre-program and decreased gradually after one month of the study. Conclusion and Recommendations: it can be concluded that majority studied nurses had a high level of practice and good knowledge immediately and one month after program than pre implementation of educational program.

The concentration of oxygen in ambient air is 21.00%. It is one of the World Health Organization's lists of essential medications (WHO). However, a high oxygen concentration may alter the lung and result in oxygen poisoning. Surfactant production is impacted by high oxygen concentrations, which also cause alveoli to collapse. To prevent these hazards, the critical care nurse must be able to monitor oxygen administration and gradually reduce supplementary oxygen. One of the issues associated with inadequate understanding, attitude, and practice about oxygen therapy are still delivering appropriate oxygen administration, despite the fact that it is controllable. To provide high-quality treatment, nurses' skills, attitudes, and practices are crucial since they can significantly contribute to preventing respiratory issues caused by a lack of oxygen while hospitalized. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to evaluate nurses' practices, knowledge, and attitudes toward the administration of oxygen in 2022 at the University of Gondar Comprehensive Specialized Hospital in Northwest Ethiopia. Methods: Institutional based cross-sectional study was conducted among nurses working at the University of Gondar comprehensive specialized hospital from May 1 to August 5/2022. A simple random sampling method was used to select study participants and data was collected by presenting self-administrated questionnaires. The data were entered into Epi data version 4.6 and exported into SPSS version 22. Finally, summary statistics were used to describe the study population. Result: A total of 244 respondents have participated with a response rate of 100%. Of the total respondents, 55.3% of participants had good knowledge, 56.1% of study participants had favorable attitudes and 62.7% of participants scored good practice. Conclusion and Recommendation: More than half of the nurses were found to have adequate knowledge, attitude, and practice about oxygen administration. However, it is considerable and not enough. To enhance the knowledge, attitude, and practice of the nurses on oxygen administration more than the current status, the implementation of a comprehensive, systematic, and continuous educational program was recommended.

Background and Aim: Improper administration of oxygen as an expensive drug has dangerous side effects. Nurses are responsible for performing this therapy and even prescribing it in emergencies. This study aimed to determine the effect of two methods of mastery learning and lectures on the oxygen therapy knowledge and practice of nurses in a teaching hospital in southern Iran.Materials and Methods: This quasi-experimental study was conducted on 50 nurses working in a teaching hospital in southern Iran. The participants were selected using convenience sampling and randomly divided into intervention and control groups. The members of the intervention group attended 4 oxygen therapy master learning sessions, while the members of the control group were trained using the lecture method for 4 sessions. The instruments used for data collection were a demographic information questionnaire and the researcher-made nurses’ oxygen therapy knowledge and practice inventories that were completed by the participants in both groups. The data were collected before the intervention and one week and three months after the intervention and analyzed using SPSS software with descriptive and inferential statistics.Results: The findings indicated that the nurses had poor oxygen therapy knowledge and practice before the intervention. Furthermore, there was no significant difference between the two groups in terms of the mean scores of oxygen therapy knowledge and practice before the intervention. It was also shown that oxygen therapy knowledge and practice were significantly improved one week and three months after the learning mastery intervention in the participants in the intervention group (P < 0.001). In contrast, only the oxygen therapy knowledge of the members of the control group showed a significant increase three months after the intervention compared to the pre-intervention stage (P = 0.04). Conclusion: The results of the present study showed that the mastery learning model is an effective model for improving and maintaining the nurses’ oxygen therapy knowledge and practice. Since nurses’ optimal practice improves the quality of care and increases patient safety, mastery learning can be used as an effective training technique to improve nurses’ oxygen therapy practice.
