Effect of double-polarization data in fits to single-pion photoproduction

Abstract: We investigate the influence of new Jefferson Lab polarization-transfer, C x ′ and C z ′ , and recoil polarization, Py, measurements in multipole fits to the single-pion photoproduction database. Results are compared to those found with the addition of a double-polarization quantity associated with the Gerasimov−Drell-Hearn sum rule.

“…An examination [5] of data on the I = 0 total KN cross section was based on the isospin decomposition [6] of the K + d total cross section. A re-examination of the KN partial-wave (PW) analysis performed by Arndt et al [7] in the light of the + (1540) followed the same procedure as their earlier extraction of the I = 0 K + N amplitudes from the K + d data.…”

“…As we note in table 1, the mass of the pK 0 S peak appears to be systematically lower than that in nK + . Though DIANA [5] and COSY-TOF [10] determined the strangeness +1 of the narrow peak in pK 0 S , it seems they rather confirm the systematic mass shift between nK + and pK 0 S than solve the puzzle if we remember that the NK scattering analyses suggest that the width of should be narrower than 1 MeV [23]. Hence, studies with increased statistics are required to confirm or place quantitative limits on the production ratio of + 5 and + in the pK 0 S channel [21].…”
