The association between changes in public sentiment induced by COVID-19 and green consumption behavior has not been studied deeply. This study proposes that the awe induced by the COVID-19 pandemic can have both negative and positive aspects, aiming to psychologically reveal why the pandemic is affecting green consumer behavior and explore potential pathways for differentiation. Research data were derived from Wuhan, China, and analyzed using experimental method. This study finds that awe of COVID-19 positively affects green consumption behavior. Specifically, due to fear, anxiety, and powerlessness, individuals with negative awe of COVID-19 instinctively need to respond to risk and pay more attention to their own safety and interests, so as to promote green consumption. However, positive awe of COVID-19 involves higher levels of cognition, such as admiration, inspiration, and optimism. It inspires a commitment to prioritize nature and social groups, and promotes green consumption behavior. As conclusions, different types of awe can be induced from public health emergencies like COVID-19 and have their own specific paths to effect green consumption behavior. These findings could help governments and marketers build future policies and strategies to reasonably guide public sentiment in order to better promote green consumption in this epidemic.

Evaluating the Impact of Environmental Education on Ecologically Friendly Behavior of University Students in Pakistan: The Roles of Environmental Responsibility and Islamic Values

With increasing global environmental problems, considerable evidence now suggests that environmental education can influence students’ ecologically friendly behavior significantly. Addressing increased environmental problems requires better understanding of the relations between focused and explicit environmental education, environmental responsibility, and religious values. The current study examined the relationship between environmental education and ecologically friendly behavior, utilizing insights from resource conservation theory. The relationship between the variables mentioned above was examined to determine the mediating effect of environmental responsibility and the moderating effect of Islamic values. Through a cross-sectional approach, data were gathered from 413 university students. The data were analyzed using analytical techniques such as “structural equation modeling” and “PROCESS.” The study’s findings support the predicted conceptual model, indicating that environmental education was positively related to environmentally friendly behavior. Furthermore, environmental responsibility partially mediated the relationship above, whereas Islamic values positively moderated the relationships between environmental education and ecologically friendly behavior as well as between environmental education and environmental responsibility. These findings emphasize the critical role of environmental education and Islamic values in comprehending the ecological behaviors of Muslim students.

The general objective of advanced countries is sustainable development, as a current and future issue, while the indicators that mark the degree of success in this direction depend on a wide range of social, economic, and political processes and decisions. For these reasons, a field study was conducted concerning adultsin Rhodes'sarea duringNovember and December 2020. It was implemented with the use of a structured closedended questionnaire and sent to 460 adults by e-mail. The sample of the study consists of 159 participants, who sufficiently completed the data investigations. The questions were about demographicswith the selection of distinct answers, and Likert-scale answers. Using the statistical tool SPSS 23, data from the study were collected which are presented as percentage and on average answers. The findings suggest to a great extent the human impact onthe current social and environmental issues. Concurrently, the high degree of their significance in the modern world and their negative impactin the ecosphere are accurately indicated in the study; issues that arehighlighted in the international bibliography. At the same time, the study shows that the participants have an extensive knowledge of the current issues, and it highlights the Mass Media's crucial role as source of information in encouraging knowledge about environmental concerns. Financial incentives, the implementation of training courses for adults, the essential requirements to ensure products meet high health, safety and environmental standards are additional measures taken to lessen the human impact on the physical environment. Taking individual responsibility, limiting the production, consumption and waste management are key elements in redefining the citizens' environmentally responsible behavior and work towards strengthening the conditions for the implementation of key processes for sustainable development.
